Antonio Brown spoke to the media Thursday, his first time doing so since he joined the New England Patriots in a blockbuster move.
He only spoke for about a minute, and didn’t touch on the sexual misconduct allegations recently made against him, which he has previously denied through a lawyer.
Speaking at his locker in Foxborough, Brown said it was “a tremendous honor” to work with quarterback Tom Brady and that he still has a lot to learn about the offense.
Asked about what he’s heard from the league about his availability to play, Brown said, “I appreciate that question. I’m just here to just focus on ball and look forward to getting out there in the home stadium and being home with the team.”
Brown joined the Patriots earlier this month after abruptly leaving the Oakland Raiders amid a series of disputes with the team during the preseason.
Days later, a former trainer of his filed a civil lawsuit in federal court claiming Brown sexually assaulted her three times in 2017 and 2018. He denied the allegations through his lawyer, saying any sexual interactions they had were consensual.
Brown took the field for the Patriots Sunday and scored a touchdown in his debut. The next day, Sports Illustrated reported another sexual misconduct allegation from a woman. whose name was withheld; through a lawyer, Brown denied that allegation as well.
Through it all, he hadn’t spoken to reporters.
Here is the full transcript of Brown’s comments Thursday:

Brown: It’s been a tremendous honor. He’s been here a long time. A lot of details, a lot of work ethic. A great guy to be around, just inspire everyone here.
Reporter: How’s the process been to kind of get used to everything as everything’s going on in your life?
Brown: Well, it’s football, you know? I’m grateful to play football. Every time you walk in the doors here, you know, you’re [at] your best for the team, so, every time I walk in here I just want to make sure that I’m preparing to give these guys my best.
Reporter: Antonio, what have you heard from the league, if anything, about your availability moving forward?
Brown: I appreciate that question. I’m just here to just focus on ball and look forward to getting out there in the home stadium and being home with the team.”
