I love unwinding at night in my room, and there’s no better way to set the mood than with a diffuser. Pop in your favorite essential oil and within minutes you’re enveloped by a soothing scent almost as comforting as your coziest throw. While there’s no medical evidence that aromatherapy can cure any diseases, it wouldn’t be a stretch to say it improves your general happiness and well-being.
The newest spin on a traditional diffuser that I’m currently loving is GuruNanda’s Natural Mist USB plug-in diffuser, which can be plugged into any USB port in your wall, car, and even your laptop. This small, light diffuser is a convenient way to fit in small moments of relaxation, wherever you are.
With regular diffusers, you’re generally limited to a stationary location because they’re too big to carry around. The GuruNanda plug-in diffuser, on the other hand, travels with you so you don’t have to wait until you’re in your permanent home to enjoy your essential oils.
GuruNanda As you sit through morning traffic and try not to scream at the car cutting in front of you, or work through a stressful situation in the office, or settle into your cold, unfriendly hotel room, you can plug in the diffuser to a nearby port to bring some much needed relaxation and comfort into your environment.
To use it, first remove the dripper plug from your essential oil bottle. Screw the bottle directly into the top of the diffuser, then flip it over so the oil starts dripping. Plug it into a USB port or USB adapter in a wall outlet, then click the button once for a mist that goes off every 10 minutes, twice for a mist that goes off every 20 minutes, or three times to turn it off. You’ll be able to tell which setting it’s on by the light that goes off (blue for every 10 minutes, green for every 20 minutes).
It’s as easy as that, and there’s no water required. If you’re thinking that the diffuser sounds like an air freshener that you can similarly plug into the wall, you’re right — about the mechanics of it, anyways. When it comes to the actual ingredients that you’re releasing into the air, the differences are stark. Traditional air fresheners contain chemicals that may smell good, but aren’t healthy. Consider that you’re directly breathing in the air around you, and you might want to better control what’s in that air.
GuruNanda/Instagram This plug-in diffuser comes from GuruNanda, a leading natural essential oil brand that prides itself on testing and sourcing only the best oils from around the world. From seed cultivation to distillation and quality-control testing, it’s dedicated to bringing you truly pure essential oils, with nothing added and nothing removed.
I was personally a big fan of the eucalyptus oil, which helped clear congestion and also just happened to smell like one of my favorite spots on my college campus. The brand also offers a variety of other affordable single oils, oil blends with specific use functions such as Focus or Calming Sleep, and roll-on oils.
Combine these pure, great-smelling essential oils with a handy, compact device like the plug-in diffuser and you’re able to set the mood in nearly any room or space.
